We stand at the cusp of the next economic revolution, which is the digitalisation of many industries. In order for South Africa to remain globally competitive it requires the political and economic openness to compete in a technology-driven future. It must re-assess its current strategies, policies and investments with regards to education, attraction of R&D, skills and foreign investment, protection of IP, encouraging and incentivising world-class innovation and entrepreneurship, and improving access to capital.
